On 6/29/10 taylora asked, “is it possible to use the USB Device port to do a USB(uart5) service boot? In the LPC32xx user manual it says that if a USB transceiver is connected it will use that for service boot. i’ve jumped the pins to put the board into service boot and i’ve sniffed the usb bus interface with wireshark, but i can’t find the 0x35 boot ID the board is supposed to send.
has anyone used service boot on the FDI boards? is it possible?”

Answered:
We have always have opted for doing direct JTAG programming instead of USB UART service mode.
Although we have not done the USB link, we have done UART5 service mode by loading the Debug connector (J1 on the SOMDIMM), connecting a FDI USB-ICP with adapter cable (converting PC’s USB to TTL serial), and shorting the CARRIER board’s J2 pin 21 and pin 63 (which puts the LPC3250 into service mode). Then you can use the LPC3250 programming utility from NXP to program the LPC3250 (see their CDL library, it’s in that .zip file).
