Huntsville, AL (May 18, 2016) – Future Designs, Inc. (FDI), a full service engineering design and production company, revealed the new 5.0” PCAP Touchscreen LCD GUI, UEZGUI-4357-50WVN, at the NXP® FTF Technology Forum this week in Austin, TX. FDI added the UEZGUI-4357-50WVN to its μEZ® GUI product family to provide customers with a touchscreen human machine interface option for complex applications. Featuring the versatile NXP LPC4357 microcontroller as the main processor, the new module is optimized to efficiently process information while managing an enhanced display and graphical user interface (GUI) functions. Even the most demanding applications, like industrial controllers or infusion pumps, can run smoothly on the UEZGUI-4357-50WVN.
“This product offers the best of both worlds to our customers. Not only are the processing capabilities impressive, the UEZGUI-4357-50WVN offers a gorgeous WVGA, 800 x 480 resolution PCAP display. This resolution is common in 7.0” displays but is now available from FDI in a 5.0” unit with an overall size very close to that of our industry-favored 4.3” units,” said Mark Hall, Director of Engineering at FDI.
FDI Sponsorship of the NXP FTF Technology Forum
FDI is a longstanding partner with NXP and proud Silver Sponsor of the NXP FTF Technology Forum. The NXP FTF provides a hands-on technology environment optimized to showcase FDI’s expertise in developing with NXP products. FDI leveraged this opportunity by displaying the extra processor capabilities and memory of the NXP LPC4357 microcontroller utilized by our UEZGUI-4357-50WVN. FDI also demonstrated the UEZGUI-4357-50WVN’s ability to perform complex and low level task handling afforded by the NXP LPC4357 microcontroller’s 204 MHz Cortex-M4F and Cortex-M0, 15fps video playback from the high speed SD Card, and graphics support using popular GUI software such as emWin from Segger.
In addition to the first look at our 5.0” PCAP Touchscreen LCD GUI offered at NXP FTF, FDI conducted a hands-on training session to a classroom of developers and technology professionals. The session, “GUI Sounds So Simple, Why is it So Hard?,” detailed the steps and considerations necessary to build and program a functional GUI using the UEZGUI-4357-50WVN, FDI’s uEZ / FreeRTOS Rapid Software Development Platform and a promotional μEZ GUI Smart Coaster expansion board.
About μEZ GUI
The µEZ® GUI product family is FDI’s standalone microcontroller-based solution for the easy integration of modern human machine interfaces (HMI) into a variety of end applications. Each µEZ GUI product includes a display with supporting hardware and FDI’s open source µEZ / FreeRTOS software. µEZ GUI development kits include everything needed to begin a design including demo software, JTAG debugger, power supply, cables, microSD card and full documentation. µEZ GUI production modules are available for completed designs as prototypes through high-volume production.
All µEZ GUI products are made for longevity and their miniature, self-contained design is well suited to be directly embedded into end products. FDI’s expertise and thoughtful approach to product design reduces initial engineering cost, time-to-market and the likelihood of future redesigns. FDI products are available “off-the-shelf” in development kit or production module form through any of FDI’s franchised distributors including Avnet, Digi-Key, Mouser and WPG Americas.
